SOI-Based Multi-Channel AWG with Fiber Bragg Grating Sensing Interrogation System

For the development of minimized and high-rate photonic-integrated fiber Bragg grating interrogation (FBGI) systems, arrayed waveguide (AWG) has been widely used as one critical components. In this paper, we present an 8-channel SOI-based AWG for a photonic integrated FBG microsystem. The channel spacing is designed to be 3 nm meet high-dynamic-range demodulation requirement. core size fabricated about 335 × ?m2. simulation results experimental are in high agreement, showing that fine transmission spectrum with crosstalk below ?16 dB, nonuniformity 0.4 insertion loss ?6.35 dB bandwidth 1.3 10 2.3 nm. proposed can applied perfectly microsystem, exhibiting large dynamic range 1.2 nm, resolution measurements 1.27 pm accuracy 20.6 pm.
